Last Lap: On Joe Biden:
Former U.S. Vice president Joe Biden has
become the Democratic Party’s official nominee for the 2020 presidential
election after a glitzy (-having extravagant elaborateness)
four-day extravaganza (-rich staged) at the Democratic National
Convention. Alongside his running mate Kamala Harris, he will seek to oust
(-Remove or replace) incumbent (Currently being in a position)
Donald Trump from the White House. If he does so, an array of remedial policy
(-an impressive display of policies to rectify something) actions will
be required from an early stage to lift the U.S. up from the economic
destruction caused by the ingoing COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, he will need to
urgently attend to a series of controversies and setbacks, some with international
repercussions (indirect consequences of some actions), that the
Trump administration has become enmeshed (trapped in) in. Does
Mr. Biden possess the political heft (ability to lift), personal charisma
(power or interest in influencing), and party mandate to do so? The
party answered with a resounding ‘yes’ to all three questions at the
convention, which featured eloquent (speaking clearly) speeches
by former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and First ladies Michelle
Obama and Hillary Clinton, as well as party heavyweights including Bernie
Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, and Elizabeth Warren. While a few younger Democratic
leaders were featured too, the Convention left little doubt that the old guard
was still running show, even if it was seeking to woo (seek for
someone’s favor) the next generation of voters within the framework of an
altered political reality.
At the heart of that reality stands Mr. Trump, wobbling
(unsteady) as he scores lower than Mr. Biden in the opinion polls, mostly
for his bungling (lack skills) response to a pandemic, yet
relentlessly throwing punches on mail-in voting and appealing to the ‘silent
majority’ that Mr. Biden, if elected, would “hike taxes on Americans by $4
trillion, eviscerate (Amend or remove) the Second Amendment,
expand sanctuary cities, and end fossil fuels”. To effectively counter these arguments,
and avoid another debacle of the sort (failure in some point of Ms.
Clinton) that Ms. Clinton faced in 2016, Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris need show
only one thing --- that they can save the U.S. economy and repair the country’s
standing with the rest of the world, especially by reclaiming a pivotal (Extreme
importance) role in the multilateral governance of global public health,
climate change and trade. Whether the Democrats, basking in the
self-congratulatory afterglow of the Convention and reaffirming their
commitment to liberal values, play their hand carefully through this endgame
scenario, or whether the Trump vision of an inward-looking U.S. still carries
the day, remains to be seen. What is clear is that the electoral outcome will
be both a referendum expressing how much a broadly inclusive paradigm (generally
accepted perspective) expressing how much a broadly inclusive paradigm of
the American Dream still resonates (received and accepted) with
the people, and a signal of the degree of openness that it will tolerate toward
the peoples of other nations. Mr. Biden will have to bring his A-game to this
final lap.
Explanation:
As we all know that this year on November 3, U.S.
is facing its presidential election and former Vice president Joe Biden is nominated
as a President candidate at the Democratic National Convention on behalf of the
Democratic party. After nominating Mr. Joe Biden, Ms. Kamala Harris is
selected as a nominee for Vice president of the Democratic party. The author warns
that if he replaces the present president Mr. Donald J Trump, a bulk of remedy
policies are needed to uplift U.S. economy from this COVID-19 pandemic and in addition
to this Mr. Biden has to face many controversies and setbacks, which Mr. Trump
government were previously involved. If we ask to Democratic party that,
whether Mr. Biden has the capacity to solve all these issues, then the answer from them is ‘yes’. And the
author assured that Mr. Biden speeches itself resembles as the previous powerful
presidents like former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and First ladies
Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, as well as party heavyweights including
Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, and Elizabeth Warren. In the Democratic National convention,
only few youngsters were given opportunities as if it seems only aged people
can involve in the politics, but the real truth is they have to seek for the
next generations also, because of many youngster’s votes as Mr. Trump won in
the previous election and that's why author considered him as a heart of altered
political reality.
Even though Mr. Trump won in the altered
political reality, now he scores lower than Mr. Biden in opinion polls, as his
inability to respond in this pandemic, and he keep on telling to the mail-in
voters that Mr. Biden will rise the taxes
which sum up to $4 trillion for Americans by removing the Second amendment. And
Mr. Biden adds that he will expand sanctuary cities and end fossil fuels. For
answering these questions and to sort out some mistakes which Ms. Clinton faced
in last election, Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris replied that, they will save the
U.S. economy and revive Americans from this pandemic. And they assured them
that they will co-operate with the multilateral governance of Global health,
Climate change and Trade. In the end of the convention, Mr. Biden reassures his
liberal values and whether Mr. Trump view of inward-U.S. economy is alive or
not in the mind of the Americans remains to be seen in future. Both inward and
outward U.S. economy seems to be in people’s mind. And the result is to be seen
in the future.
